New Things

Today is day 3 of a 2-week bartending course I signed up for. So far, so good! I took a free class first and got a great vibe from the owner & his staff. I'm really amazed at how much I've learned in just 8 hours (4 hours per day) and I look forward to learning more and more! They also have an excellent job-placement program after the course is finished, and I'm really, really looking forward to becoming a professional bartender. Already it is so much more fun and stimulating than any job I've ever done while sitting down!

More newness: I just got an e-mail from a representative of "The Reinvention Summit." Pretty apt timing, considering I am in the middle of reinventing my career ;) I don't have time to go into detail right now, but I'm going to look into it further and share the best parts here--what caught my eye in the e-mail was the subject line: The Future of Storytelling. Stay tuned for more!

But first I've got to go put on a black shirt (we practice mixing drinks using colored water, and it can stain!) and head off to class. It really is a blast! We learned martinis and manhattans yesterday and I kept getting that part from "Hey Ya" by Outkast in my head:

Shake it! Shake it! Shake it! Shake it like a Polaroid picture!

The whole song/music video is GREAT and never fails to bring a smile to my face :) Enjoy!
