I received the news in my inbox yesterday that once again I am not the winner of the 3-Day Novel Contest. The winner, the two runners up, and the top honorable mention were all Canadians, and it's a Canadian contest (though they had entries from 20 countries this year), so I couldn't help feeling like the odds were somewhat against me since my entry was titled "Mr. America and the Sausage Cult." The winning novel is called 'Snowmen' and it's about a man trying to make a record-breaking trip across the Arctic Circle. Could it be more Canadian?
So I was feeling kind of bitter about it, though I know I'll get over it and do it again next year. Finding this sweet store awning uptown definitely helped:
What a great name for a confectioner's shop! Love it. WORLD OF NUTS. Really sets the imagination whirring!
Now I just need to watch some South Park and sing along to "Blame Canada" and I'll be all set ;)

I loved "Mr. America and the Sausage Cult"
Those guys are nuts! Silly Canadians...
A Canadian won by writing about snow! Go figure. Loved your title. I think you should boycott that contest next time.
